A FREEWAT course in Nevada

The first FREEWAT course of 2018 was held in Reno, Nevada, at the premises of the Bureau for Land Management.

The course was held by Laura Foglia (UC Davis, California) and Steffen Mehl (CSU Chico, California), with the contribution of Rotman Criollo and Celia Riera (IDAEA-CSIC, Barcelona, Spain), who held a lecture on the akvaGIS module via skype.

The course was attended by 13 people from different institutions (Bureau for Land Management, The Nature Conservancy, University of Nevada Reno, San Francisco State University, Nevada Division for Environmental Protection), and it was divided in two parts:

  • 2 days of remotely-driven training, during which the trainers provided assistance to the participants via e-mail or skype;
  • 3 days of face-to-face training (16th to 18th January 2018), during which tutorials on (i) groundwater flow dynamics, (ii) pre-processing of hydrochemical and hydrogeological data, (iii) particle tracking and (iv) calibration were performed.

So, the plan of courses for 2018 is officially on. Please, keep an eye on the FREEWAT courses webpage for the whole schedule (it will be constantly updated).
